UNEP/OECD Workshop on Sustainable Resource and Materials Management: Presentation on "the European Platform on LCA" at the UNEP/OECD Workshop on "Sustainable Resource and Materials Management – Linking National and International Initiatives on Methodology and Assessment" held on 1 December 2009 in Paris. The purpose of the workshop was to exchange the information about the work done in the area of sustainable resources management and included the presentation of different initiatives, including those of UNEP and OECD.

The EC is jointly chairing with circa 20 European industry associations the European Food Sustainable Consumtion and Production Round Table
The IES is co-chairing the working group 1, responsible for methodology development. In 2009, a general document on overarching principles will be agreed. The methodology and associated case studies will build on the expertise through the European Platform on LCA.

Participation and presentation in the SETAC Europe Annual Meeting conference in Goteborg (SWEDEN); see the slides of the presentation and the poster. A separate information workshop was organised by Commission staff to present the International Reference Life Cycle Data System (ILCD) Handbook and its draft guidance documents to European LCA experts. The presentation is accessible online.

Participation in First international summit of PCF World Forum. DG Environment presented an overview of the Commission's position on product carbon footprint (PCF) to the world business leaders and Member State representatives. The JRC presented an overview of related community support provided via the EPLCA, including interactions in relation to the ILCD Handbook, ILCD Data Network, as well as the European Reference Life Cycle Database (ELCD core database).
